8 One-Click Role Templates
WooCommerce Ready
Building a WordPress role from scratch requires researching which specific capabilities correspond to each real-world job function. Which capabilities does a Shop Manager actually need to process orders but not modify plugin settings? What does a Teacher need to manage LMS courses but not billing? An Accountant to view financial reports but not create content? This research can take 30-60 minutes per role — and if you get it wrong, you either leave the user with insufficient capabilities (they can’t do their job) or excessive capabilities (a security risk).
DominoRole’s One-Click Permission Presets module eliminates this research entirely. It provides 8 professionally designed role templates based on common real-world job functions — each with exactly the right capabilities for the job, nothing more and nothing less. Applying a preset (Pro feature) creates the complete role in a single click. Even in the free version, the presets are fully visible and explorable, showing you exactly which capabilities each template includes — making them a useful reference for building roles manually.

Using Presets as Reference for Manual Role Building
Even in the free version (where preset application requires Pro), the Presets module serves as an invaluable reference for building roles manually. Browse to DominoRole → Permission Presets to see all 8 preset templates with their full capability lists organized by functional group. You can use these lists as the blueprint when manually assigning capabilities in the Permission Manager.

FAQ
Can I modify the preset capabilities after applying them?
Yes. Applying a preset creates a standard WordPress role. Once created, you can open that role in the Permission Manager and add or remove any capabilities exactly as you would with a manually created role. The preset is just the starting point — the resulting role is fully editable.
What if a preset role already exists on my site?
The Presets page shows a badge on any preset whose default role ID already exists. The apply operation checks for this conflict and prevents overwriting an existing role — you’ll need to provide a custom Role ID to create a new role from the preset without conflicting with the existing one.
Are presets updated when DominoRole is updated?
Preset definitions are part of the plugin code — the DominoRole_Presets::get_presets() method defines all capability arrays. When DominoRole updates, preset definitions may be improved or expanded. Roles already created from presets are not affected by plugin updates — they exist independently in your WordPress database.
